HAL'S STORY: RAA "RECREATIONAL FLYER" SPRING 2015
I was blessed to be introduced to this wonderful gentleman a few years ago.
"Dave, you must go see Hal and his stuff!" Indeed his cars and planes are
top shelf pieces of design or restoration. His machine shop is to "die for".
Gosh, its a little smaller than the one at the company I used work for;
but for sure I bet he could make just about anything they could.
Last year Hal took me for flights in his fifth homebuilt airplane (floats).
The first ones were from kits or plans and this last one is pretty custom. When you
get to be as young at heart as him you know what works, and what you want.
His cars are another topic, show car stuff.
Right now his flying has extra baggage and turbulance - still he gives
more than he takes. If I am living at his age I hope my sails are
fighting for a safe harbour; and if I am lucky my wings riding with
the eagles. If You are ever in Massey drop in on him.
On floats, just east of the bridge (can't miss the hanger).
UPDATE: APRIL 14, 2016
Hal's hanger collapsed in February damaging his wings.
They got the plane out and he has the wings in the shop.
The major damage has been repaired and he is close to recovering.
